The family’s first dog was purchased from the Downsview Kennels in 1949 – the much loved and still remembered Kerry, Downsview Debenture Kanjuley Kennels were founded in 1959 with the purchase from the late Gill Campbell of the Kerry Blue Dog, Downsview Drumbeat.
In 1962 a Kerry Bitch arrived, Downsview Double Chime. Showing was limited due to work and family commitments but both dogs did well in the ring and in due course produced Kanjuley Claudius who also won well. After a break of 13 years due to elderly dogs and an involvement in horses which left little time for other things, we returned to the dog showing scene in 1986 in partnership with my Aunt Joyce McMurray, with Achuri Questionmaster of Kanjuley and two years later with Downsview Irish Calypso of Kanjuley.
10 years and five Kerry litters later and on the brink of retirement we added our first Wheaten. Purchased from the Ballysax Kennels in Ireland in August 1996 our wheaten foundation bitch Lady Kadette of Ballysax at Kanjuley ( Scarlett to her friends) arrived. She left us in 2009 but her legacy and memories live on. Her progeny are still here down to the 4th generation.
In 2009 my daughter Louise Atyeo was granted a separate interest in the affix and in 2010 bred her first litter.
